“Steve’s training was a pivotal moment for our department. It was profound. We learned how to talk and how to listen … The way people let their guard down blew my mind. It’s been ten months since that two-day workshop, and I continue to see its impact.”
Yolanda Smith, Executive Director, Tufts University Public Safety
“His enthusiasm and commitment are profound and infectious. Stephen Michael lights up a room and helps take people into a space of openness and learning.”
Dr. Chris Francovich, Gonzaga University
“When I think of all the things that helped me when I was locked up, Nonviolent Communication was the foundation. Nonviolent Communication is what’s helped me deal with all the challenges of the past eight years. It’s helped me to know myself and see myself in others.”
Khalil Williams, Community Organizer, Bronx Connect
“Stephen Michael Tumolo is an excellent facilitator, teacher, and guide. He embodies presence in a way that no other Nonviolent Communication teachers I’ve met have.”
Charlotte, Camden, NJ
“Thank you for helping us be more in touch with our feelings and needs … Our recent Expanded Assembly meetings (January 2020 and July 2021) are striking examples of the good influence that you have brought to our deliberations and decision-making. These important meetings have been conducted in an open, honest atmosphere where the participants have been able to speak their truth and have fuller discussion and better decisions than before … Personally, I am grateful, and I think we, as a community, have grown in our relationships and desire to have more meaningful conversations with each other. Our hearts are warmer and more inclusive.”
Frankie Vaughn, former North America Unit Leader, Medical Mission Sisters
“A great balance of content, participants’ input and exercises.”
Lisbeth, Pennsauken, NJ
“The most impressive thing I can say about … programs led by Stephen is that they work. Stephen’s program, working to change the direction of prisoners’ lives, met with great success. They attracted much attention and many who wanted to join him in his efforts. He proved to be a most successful instructor and has the ability to inspire others to believe in their capabilities, while reaching beyond where they were natively comfortable.”
Jim Cummings, Jim Cummings and Associates
“Thank you for bringing this wonderful new language AND AWARENESS into my life. I am eternally grateful.”
Susan, New Jersey
“Thank you, Stephen Michael. This Nonviolent Communication from the heart that you teach is so valuable to me. I am able to apply it in my life in many ways. Just a couple of days ago, I defused some fiery feelings from one of my tenants just by feeding back to him what he said to me. And as soon as I gave him the feedback, there was silence on the line, and then a confirmation that what I said to him was what he was needing and just in that acknowledgement, he took a deep breath and calmed down….WOW Landlady training 101!!!”
Mary, New Jersey
“Stephen Michael facilitated in a way that was inclusive of everyone. His presence gave the leadership team and consultants an opportunity to participate in the reflections.”
Sister Gertrude, Philadelphia
“He helped us move to common ground, even though we have quite different opinions on strategy.”
Marian, Philadelphia
